    Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD)

    Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD)

Most common types of inflammatory bowel disease are ulcerative colitis and crohns disease. Both of these inflammatory bowel diseases affect the intestines. Crohns affects the lower part of the small intestine and ulcerative colitis affects the colon (the large intestine).

Inflammatory bowel disease causes individuals to suffer from diarrhea, reduced or no appetite, and unintended weight loss. Many also suffer from abdominal pain and cramping well using the washroom.

Typically if someone is suffering from IBD, they may qualify for the Disability Tax Credit under "Elimination". The general requirement for qualifying under Elimination would be that:

    - You are affected at least 90% of the time
    - You require an inordinate amount of time (3x longer than average person) to manage this function of daily living.

If you are going to the bathroom 3x more frequently than the average person, or have to spend longer in the bathroom due to pain and cramping, you may qualify for the Disability Tax Credit.

If you or someone you care for suffers from inflammatory bowel disease, you may be eligible for a large refund from the Canada Revenue Agency through the Disability Tax Credit program. We are Disability Tax Credit experts and have experience working with thousands of Canadians with a multitude of medical conditions. We would be happy to discuss your specific case with you and help determine if you may be eligible to claim the Disability Tax Credit, and receive a refund from the Canada Revenue Agency.
