Crohn's disease is an inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). It causes inflammation of the lining of your digestive tract, which can lead to abdominal pain, severe diarrhea, fatigue, weight loss and malnutrition. Inflammation caused by Crohn's disease can involve different areas of the digestive tract in different people.
People that suffer from Crohn's may be eligible for the Disability Tax Credit, and would typically qualify under the category "Elimination". In order for one to be considered "Markedly Restricted" in Elimination, they must:
A) Be affected at least 90% of the time
B) Require an inordinate amount of time (3x longer than average person) to manage 1 or more functions of daily living.
If you are going to the bathroom 3x more frequently than the average person, or take longer to manage this function due to pain and cramping, you may qualify.
If you or someone you care for suffers from Crohn's Disease, please contact us today and we would be happy to help. You may be entitled to a substantial refund from the Canadian Government through the Disability Tax Credit program.
