Pterygium occurs when a winglike membrane occurs in the neck, eyes or knees. Most commonly pterygium is when the disease invades the cornea in the eye. Those suffering from pterygium experience blurred vision, eye irritation and sometimes redness can occur.
In severe cases, if the membrane grows large enough to cover enough of your cornea it can interfere with your vision. When the membrane grows to this extent an individual can have difficulty seeing all together.
If you or someone you care for suffers from pterygium, you may be eligible for a large refund from the Canada Revenue Agency through the Disability Tax Credit program.
